Creating a Client in Silverfin

Clients are created in Silverfin from data that is currently held within PE and the Data Warehouse.

From Frank, select the 'Silverfin Add Client' button in the bottom left.

This will take to you to the Client Portal administration screen.  In the top Left, select

  1. Menu
  2. Silverfin
  3. Add Client

Use the ‘Search Data Warehouse’ field to lookup your client to be added to Silverfin.  Note that this is the individual entity that we are producing accounts and could differ from the PE client name where we bill to a separate entity.

Review the information on the screen and amend as necessary.  Note: Any changes made on this screen will need to be made in PE if applicable.

  • Client Entity Name – this is the client name that will be used in Silverfin
  • Accounts Frequency –  Annual accounts as default however if we produce quarterly or monthly vat returns or management accounts then amend as necessary
  • Year End – the financial year end of the company.  It is important that the Day & Month is correct as this drives the accounting year in Silverfin
  • Client Code – this is the PE client code and is used to help searching for clients in Silverfin
  • Companies House No. - For companies this will enable the company details, Directors, Shareholders and Secretaries to be imported to Silverfin from Companies House.  For unincorporated clients leave blank
  • Client Type – the type of client e.g. Limited company, sole trader, partnership, LLP etc
  • Sector – The sector that the client operates in
  • Company Template ID – This is the structure of workflows that is used within Silverfin and it is important that this reflects the combination of client type & sector for your client and is competed as default.  Current options are
    • Limited Client FRS 102/102 (1a)
    • Limited Company FRS 105
    • LLP
    • Partnership
    • Sole Trader (Accounts Production)
    • Sole Trader (Income & Expenditure)

Once all fields have been checked for accuracy and amended as necessary select the ‘Save to Silverfin’ button in the top right

A confirmation window will be shown, if details are correct select ‘Yes, Import’ and the client will be created in Silverfin.  Alternatively select ‘No, Cancel’ to return and make any necessary changes.

Once the Client Entity has been created in Silverfin then continue in Silverfin to import the Client data through a connection to the bookkeeping system or manual import. Remember, for clients that have a live sync (so Xero, QuickBooks, Sage software, etc), it will take some time for the initial sync so the sync should be set up some time before you are ready to start work on that client.

Chinese Walls

If the client you are adding is behind Chinese Walls, follow the process above and then Submit a Ticket to IT with the following

  • Client Entity Name & Code
  • List of Staff who require access to the client in Silverfin
