Excel import formatting issues
The potential to import data from Excel is a key functionality within Silverfin to prevent manual rekeying of data, in terms of both importing of TB/nominal ledger data or Fixed Assets Registers.
You do however need to be careful in the formatting of the numbers and text of the spreadsheet, and we set out below some general guidance you might find helpful:
Firstly, use the templates that are provided by Silverfin to set out the column headings needed. These can be added through many of the reconciliations, especially at nominal ledger code level, through the Actions / Import Reconciliation Data function - Download example template as below
Then in terms of any numbers (especially if negatives are being imported as positives) format using the Accounting number format within Excel, percentages should also be formatted as 0.15 for 15% and text on the sheet should be formatted as General.
