Filing accounts to Companies House

The filing of accounts with Companies House is completed within Silverfin and the necessary ixbrl tagging will be added as part of the process.

Before filing with Companies House, all workflows must be at 100%.  Common areas for note are

  • outstanding To-Do's - these count towards the workflow percentage so any general points, review points or points for partner must be marked complete
  • outstanding checks as part of the the preparer / manager / partner workflow checklists
  • in the Accounts (3) workflow
    • If there is a note in the accounts then the reconciliation will need to be starred for tagging purposes.
    • General Settings - Date of approval of Financial Statements not completed
    • General Settings - Date of accounting report not completed
    • Overview - Draft selected, must be changed to Final Financial Statements
    • Important: Overview - Ensure that 'Please select type of report to be generated' is set to Filleted or Abridged as applicable and not Full Accounts or Full Accounts with Detailed P&L

Filing Accounts with Companies House

  1. From the Silverfin client home screen select 'Actions' and then Download Data 
  2. Select '[UK&I] iXBRL FRS102',  '[UK&I] iXBRL FRS102 1A'  or  '[UK&I] iXBRL FRS105' as applicable
  3. if this is the first filing that you have done a window may show prompting 'Authorization Required' for Silverfin Integrations.  Click 'Authorize' to continue, this is to allow Silverfin to connect to Companies House.
  4. A second window will be shown with the options:
    1. Download - this allows you to save the iXBRL tagged html file e.g. for loading to Alphatax
    2. Submit to Companies House - click to submit
    3. View PDF - view a PDF version of the accounts to be filed
  5. Any potential errors will be shown here, ensure these are resolved before filing. 
  6. Click 'Submit to Companies House'
  7. Enter the FC Silverfin password for companies house filing - please speak to your manager or champion if you do not know the password. Please be aware that this password will change regularly.
  8. The window below will be shown with the Company name and registration number complete.  Enter the Company authentication code and then click 'Submit to companies house'
  9. You will also receive a 'Communication' via a note to let you know when this has been accepted by Companies House:
